NBA referee Bennett Salvatore acknowledged Sunday that he blew a call in the closing minutes of Atlanta’s 100-88 victory over the Chicago Bulls, which evened the Eastern Conference semifinal at two games apiece.

With 2 1/2 minutes remaining and the Hawks leading 90-84, Bulls star Derrick Rose went up for a shot beyond the 3-point stripe and appeared to be fouled by Jamal Crawford. Bennett Salvatore blew the whitsle but said it was not a foul but an inadertent whistle.

”An inadvertent whistle is when a referee blows a whistle and didn’t mean to,” Salvatore said. ”That’s exactly what happened. I blew my whistle and didn’t mean to. I didn’t think it was a foul.”

But after the game he reviewed the play and said it was a foul.

Memphis Grizzlies forward Shane Battier was trapped in elevator for 25 minutes before practice today.The elevator at his apartment got stuck between floors. He was stuck until maintance rescued him just in time for practice.

Memphis plays Oklahoma City at home Saturday, Game 3 of the Western Confrence semifinal.
